Default Pulled code, now what?

So I had a CEL on my 1998 Sidekick, and I received my OBDII scanner, read the code, which took all of 3 minutes, took that long really because the OBDII port under the dash is black, and under the dash is black, so, yeah... black on black, kudos to whoever designed that one...

Anyhow;

CEL is 0443 - EVAP I

Evaporative emission control system incorrect purge flow.

Malfunction of purge control valve.

Correct me if I'm wrong but that is the PCV valve yes?

And correct me again, but it's real easy to change and costs like 2$ yes?

(please say yes...)

BTW, that code reader is fantastic, cleared my code too with the clear button. Great 40$ investment.

[edit]

NOPE; I just checked the manuals and PCV valve is Positive Crankshaft Ventilation...

looking...

Really?

Found the following;

a)Absent or tampered fuel cap.
b)De-linked or faulty fuel tank pressure sensor.
c)De-linked, damaged, pinched, or blocked EVAP purge line.
d)De-linked or erroneous EVAP canister purge valve.
e)De-linked or incorrect EVAP vent solenoid.
f)Open ignition feed circuit to the EVAP vent or purge solenoid.
g)Tampered EVAP canister.
h)Leaking fuel sensor assembly O-ring.
i)Leaking fuel tank or fuel filler beck.

Could it be as simple as the fuel cap? I'll try changing it they're like 5$...

And this is interesting too; not exactly Suzuki aimed (actually it looks like it was written for Ford) but it gives an idea.

3 stars great usage of the internet to look up a problem!!!

"the evap collects gasoline fumes into a carbon tank and the slowly burns them. Preventing said fumes from entering the atmosphere."

keep your gas cap tight for week and see what happens. if no joy , barrow an known good cap.

Your list looks perfect and almost complete.
and yes , technically it could be any of those.
but 99% its the cap, just loose.

add to list. fuse blown on some cars, shared with other device like Radio or ?

the tank must hold positive pressure.
so any hoses on tank cracked, or at the evap canistor or between the two.

if your cap fixs problem good, if not tank must be pressure tested to find the problem if inspection with eye balls , proves fruitless.

yes the scanner is a necessity and can by used on future cars too. so that makes it even cheaper.

good day.

I'll try interchanging the fuel caps between my two Sidekicks. They look the same except for the writing on them.

1991 JLX ~ 1998 JX

Hopefully it will fix the problem, it was cleared last night and didn't come back today. I guess that rules out the remote starter/kill switch...

I'll reactivate it.

Keep note of one thing
every time you remove your cap , you should here it
whishhhhhhhhh, and burp out a ton of air. stink too.
that tells you something.
1 - cap works
2 - tank is sealed and no broken fittings in the evap path.
no whish, be suspicious.

pn for caps are different, but may work. ?

the computer on this car constantly tests the gas tank , to be sure it does NOT leak Fumes !
