retrofit to 96 and newer top

Does any one know how hard it world be to put a 96 and newer top onto my 89? I am not in a rush, but would like to get a top I can take the side windows and back window off, and still have coverage over front and rear seat. I figured this would be less than trying to put ac into it. and it does get a bit warm in summer here in the Texas Panhandel, and the sun beats down quite well!

Hard or soft? ( your implications is soft ??)
different bodies , use different tops, hardtops are that, hard and are molded and are not easily modified. Labor intensive to understate it.

recommend contacting any top manufacture that makes tops for KICKs.
and ask them.
there are many top designs !
