your hiccup was measuring the battery before starting. and you also measured it before turning on the lights ( 12.65 will have very bright lights)
12.65v = State of Charge (resting) of 100%
at std, temperature and pressures.
That magic voltage only means the acid/H2O ratios are good.
try this.
put meter on battery posts, after cleaning them of course.
now have someone crank car and note voltage.
you will find an open cell ,(extremely common)
the voltage should stay above 10v, during cranking action.
after cranking(or clicking) battery must bouch back above 12v or it is in fact bad.
if it does drop below 8v the solenoid mUST lick
it clicks because that is its official drop out voltage.
You have a dead / damaged cell.
it is common to have perfect voltage even though one cell is almost destroyed.
It take very little mass of lead and acid to produce 2volts on a cell, even though the majority is destroyed. ( resting only)
it could be a bad starter, soilenoid or cabling but
attack that battery first ( 99% factor)
ive see batteries jump from 10 to 12v just by smaking the sides, in fact , I smack'd one yesterday and drove home. Out it came.
Cells can short when the mud rises to the plates and shorts 1 plate. ( these I shake, and drive home)
there pesky but cheap.
be glad your Hibrid doenst need an $5000 inverter.
suckers.
