Default Exhaust manifold crack - 96 Sidekick

96 Sidekick has a cracked exhaust manifold, cracked between #3 and 4. Are these prone to cracking? What's the chances of a salvage yard manifold being any good? Any one have good luck with JB Weld?

Manifolds in general are prone to cracking as they endure extreme heat but JB weld wont stand a chance. You can prolong manifold life by cooling the manifold slowly by idleing it for a few minute before turning the engine off after long hard runs and avoid large water puddles and install all the shields. As far as your luck at the salvage yard I have no idea.

I have 95 & 97 Trackers both 1.6, 16v & both have cracked exhaust manifolds. Calmini has a bolt in replacement header for this engine or maybe try Hawk Strcitly Suzuki. Good luck, Dave

the above and:
1- manfold to block bracket , bottom of collector to block. missing or broken.
2: top of cat to tranny mount broken or missing.
3: rear of cat , swivel mount broken or missing.

on some cars , after people hack their cars , have all three missing
and sure enough , you crack it over and over.

4cyl engine shack like heck.

the trick is the get the engine and the header to be locked together as one unit and then let the tail pipe wag its tail like a dog. "look"
this is how they are engineered.

once you deviate from that and dont cure the shake, it will keep happening.
