Hi, I have a 96 sidekick sport 1.8ltr 4x4. last year I replaced the rear oil seals and the brake shoes because the seals were leaking. Now the left side is leaking again. The auto part guy says I need an inner and outer seal and I only did one that I could see last time.has any one run into this or is the auto parts computer wacked.
I figured it out The outer seal is a dry seal to keep dirt and moister from getting into the bearing, but remove and replace it you have to have the bearing assembly pressed of at a shop.
I also learned that if your breather tube on the axle housing is plugged, you can build up too much pressure and force the rear end lubricant out through the inner seals and contaminate your brakes.
