since buying my '93 tracker a few years ago i have made a few upgrades, just easy things like a new soft top, seat covers, and cd player. But having a cd player isn't so great with the stock speakers. anyone have any recomendations on cheap but decent speakers. also is it hard to install them? for now i thinnk i would just replace the front ones, maybe later i will upgrade the rear speakers.
Cut a 6x9 speaker sized hole in the interior trim in the back on either side of the seats on a two door sidekick/tracker and insert any 6x9 speaker to get a 1000% improvement in sound.
I've tried with 5 different speaker brands and the only one that stood out where much more expensive than all the others.
Dual brand, 120W, 40$/pair. (led light in there for blingbling)
Bony Xplodo (knockoff), 120W, 25$/pair.
Walmart branded no name, 80W, 12$ each.
Pioneer, 60W, 69$/pair.
Then I dropped some Alpines in there, 120W, close to 200$/pair, I got them used for 10$...They sound FANTASTIC compared to all the other brands I tried there.
I'll post photos as soon as I think of bringing my camera outside.

Since when have Alpine, Infinity, and MB Quart been cheap? I like the 6 1/2 over the 6x9s too. Round speakers have less distortion and the round cone distorts more uniformly. But it dosent really matter.
Well these are the 40$ Duals, from Wal-Mart, they have LEDs that light them up and they sound pretty decent, not as good as the 169$ Alpines but they're a wide improvement over, well, no speakers in the back and 4" tweeters in the front...
i dont have the 4 inch speakers anymore in the front i have a component system 6 1/2 woffers in the door with seperate tweeters that is of my door pannels and how i hold the woffers. that is what it looks like in my sidekick. are u planning on putting subs in????
yer i had 6x9's in the back in the same spot but the cardboard is crap so changed back to Alipine 6"s and got a bit of metal screwing them in ...... there not as load as the 6x9 but sound so much better and tighter
