i guess the USA EPA hasnt taken over Alberta yet.
On many old cars , they had a silly milage device , mandated by the frackn EPA.
it is either a timer or a counter connected to the Speedo cable.
the purpose is to make you ( hah) go in and get a new oxygen sensor and or a new CAT.
todays newer OBD2 systems , actually only flip on the lamp when something is truely wrong.
even a loose gas cap.
first reset the 50k timer ,then see if lamp is still lit.
(the CEL or Mil lamp "Check engine lamp")
if it is lite ,then you need to jump the diag plug to have it spit out the codes.
if you get a non 12 code your car needs help.
Knowing if your car is NON USA or not is very important as there are many differences.
The sticker under the hood tells you what you have.
open hood , look up ,not down.
good luck
