Default Give me a brake

Hey all.
I've had ongoing problems with the handbrake/parkbrake on my 1992 Escudo 3 door (g16a donk tao1w chassis serial number). I've replaced the shoes in the rear even though it turns out it was unnecessary, the cable is free to move and i've loosened off the leaver fully to allow the "self adjuster" to work and then brought it back up to tension so that the lever comes up 3-4 clicks which has worked temporarily. The self adjuster is all the way extended even with brand new shoes, i have even taken a file to the self adjuster to give it a little more travel which also works ok-ish (in a vain attempt to pass a Warrant of Fitness!) Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

you can adjust the handbrake from the handle, you need a 10mm wrench and you just turn the 10mm bolt on the cable, directly behind the handbrake lever in the truck, you'll have to remove the center plastic panel, screws for it are on either side, near the seats.

I hope that's what you meant.

Yeah, thanks fellas. My cable has still got plenty of life in it. I've been through all the obvious proceedures of letting the cable off, pressing on the brake and then winding the tension back on again. From what i can gather, there's something wrong to do with distances or sizes of one of the parts in there. The drums i measured are completely un-worn but i only get a little life out of my shoes before the self adjuster is all used up and the handbrake is useless.
