Default Sidekick/Tracker Diesel?

Am I on glue or have I heard that 97+ tracker/sidekicks where available in diesel? Perhaps this was an EU option?

Any ever attempt a diesel conversion?

Yes the Sidekick/Escudo/Vitara was sold with a 2.0L intercooled turbo diesel in other markets and it had a hood scoop and the Grand Vitara sold today is offered in a diesel in Europe.

Neat. Other markets being EU? If I could get hold of a diesel from one of those EU units, i bet it would just bolt into my truck. Anyone have any ideas about where to aquire such a powerplant? Think I' have to mod my auto trans at all?

I'm not sure about the tranny but I would guess that it wold be different because the motor is not made by Suzuki.

I have the suzuki/tracker portfolio at home. I read up on the diesel model, it was slower than molasses in the winter time. I'll take my 25-30 mpg as long as I can keep up with traffic. If I get a chance later on, I will see what the 0-60 times are I want to say like 14. something.

ok here are that stats

2L single ohc indirect injected 4 cyl intercooled

doesn't give boost figures but has a static compression of 20.5:1 and makes 86bhp @ 4000rpm an 159 ft lbs @ 2000 rpm

They said that there is no boost under 1500 even at WOT, and torque drops off severely at 1800rpms.

They averaged 30.2 mpg towing 1000 kgs and they say you should see33 mpg.

Oh ya 0-60 in 19.8 seconds and max speed is 88 mph... This is a 5 door model. Claims that it could achieve 40.9 mpg.
