Default 16v timing help please

Ok I have a 1987 samurai that I did a 1.6 16v swap to. Its been running awwesome till a couple weeks ago when it started pushing out coolant out of the overflow.People have suggested the timing is off since it runs great, oil crystal clean, new water pump, thermostat, rad cap etc. Now for the last couple days its been running real fat.Carbon on the plugs and tailpipe and the exhaust pings when shut off like its real hot.How do I time this? I know they said something about a jumper wire between 2 wires on the diagnostic plug. The motor is a 1994.

I'm not sure exactly witch pins need to be jumped, it has been cover before so you might find something by searching. But even if the timing is maxed out it wont run that hot. Is the temperature gauge showing excessive heat? I would say you have a blown head gasket, and suggest doing a compression test.
