Default Hood scoop

I have a cold air intake that's wedge under the hood . Would making a hood scoop help my engine run better? or is it a lost cause? Worth it?

LOL! Yes it will work, just make sure you don't drive in the rain.

You realize that for it to be functional you need to cut a hole in your hood yes?

Haha, a hole :O really?! lol I'm quite aware I'll have to pierce the truck a little. I'm just curious about the effects of rain / snow / mud... would the power gain be worth those obstacles...?

It probably won't make much of a difference, unless you have a turbo.
And yes, watch out for water, it could damage your engine.

The hood scoop might add some power but very little. You don't want to get the filter wet and you don't want to get the exhaust manifold wet either as it will crack. The problem with the cold air intake is that engine coolant runs thru the intake manifold and heats up the air anyway.

You will get true cold air with a scoop as with a cai i feel you get more warm air because the temp of the road is alot more then the air..... if you have an after market filter washable the elements wont hurt it and a little moisture in the intake will actually brake down any carbon in the combustian chamber. My car has been through it all and no negative problems at all.

This has already been discussed and your right but if you make heat shield around the exhaust manifold it stays surprisingly cool. http://www.suzuki-forums.com/suzuki-...take#post80259

thanks for the input guys
I've done some thinking and I believe i will utilise that little scoop on the side of the hood to draw in some cold air, I'm going to shield the exhaust manifold from heating the air so much to the filter... I'll post some pics when I'm done fabbing something up

Thanks again,

I was talking about the stock hole, b-t-w, not the pic I posted... lol

On that note, has anyone already done such a mod? Like a heat riser for the ex manifold to get colder air in the intake.
I'm debating about either making a piece of metal cover the manifold again, or something in the middle, or even something right against the filter. I just wouldn`t want to get anything to close and stop the flow entirely...

So my thoughts are to put some sort of shield intermediately between the manifold and the bracket that holds intake... then maybe straighten the airfilter out to fit back another inch next to that side louvre hole on the hood... then once that's done I'll go inside the fender and remove that plastic air breather that's nolonger being used and allow more air to come into the fender via the old ducting...

Any comments would be great :P
