Default 89 surgeing, idle erratically, ......

Dunno im lost here it was fine then while driving it it started to miss . It was fine at lower rpm or so i thought now while its idleing the tach is @ 800 rpm then with no notice it drops to 100 ish jumps around for a little bit then right back to 800 like nothing happened . If you give it gas it cuts in and out. Im looking at the tach and it will dump to 0 then jump to 2000 as i let off the accelerator. I just changed out the clutch cable and thought maybe ive jarred a connection loose on the firewall? When i test drove it last night i thought i saw the park brake light flash.
Other then that test drove it for about 15 mins no problems.....(/scratches head....)

I hope this isnt the ecm.... im going through the haynes right now.....

Erratic RPM is a textbook ECM symptom, check with them;

Masterkit1 - Suzuki, Vitara, Sidekick, Tracker, X-90, Kit car, Québec, Quebec, Canada

However before you dish out for an ECM, check your vacuum lines, EGR valve etc.

look here for information about your vacuum lines;

Hey what engine is that diagram for?
Also, this may sound stupid, but did you check to make sure ALL cylinders are firing? Your idle problem sounds alot like a problem I am having right now. Check it out maybe. Good Luck!

The diagram is for '89 1.6L 8v engine. Would not apply to yours jake since you have the 1.8L engine, which is somewhat dedicated to four door models.
