Default Activating 4x4 on a 94 Sidekick JX

Alright, so here's the deal: I have no idea how to get my 4wd working in my Sidekick! It's a 4 door JX 5spd manual. It isn't a huge issue as much since it's summer right now, but I would definitely like to know for future reference.

I first noticed I wasn't getting my 4wd when I was stuck in snow and only two tires were spinning. I really have no clue what to do. I've asked my father and he mentioned something really vague that didn't help and wouldn't really specify <>

One more quick thing, that may be more of a general car question: My A/C hasn't worked since I've had it. The previous owner had no idea, so I figured it may have been a freon (sp?) thing. Only problem is, I'm not sure if that's the issue or not. When I was attempting to put it in what I thought may have be the right places, it just wouldn't go in wherever I put it. Anyone have any idea where I put it exactly so I can rule that out before I take it to a mechanic?

Thanks in advance for any help. It's much appreciated.

From what you've said I'm not sure where your problem is. I assume you have activated the 4WD transfer box lever to "4X4 Hi", when the "4X4" light on the dashboard should come on. Then I believe the "94" had manual hubs at the front that need to be turned in the direction of the arrows to lock 4WD to the front wheels. Do this when your wheels are straight ahead. If these hubs have not been used for some time they may be difficult to turn, apply gentle pressure with a short handle wrench but be aware that the only way may be to dismantle the hub and re-grease after cleaning. Hubs should be activated once a month to keep them working. You cannot move to "Lo" on the transfer box while you are moving - the vehicle has to be stationary and the gear box in neutral. Some say you can change while the clutch is depressed, but you will get the "Crunching" noise indicating wear.

A/C - are you looking at the correct radiator - ours that we had before changing to the GV, was a smaller, silver coloured radiator in front of the main engine radiator, with its own expansion tank and dipstick to allow top-ups - no problems.

Hopes this helps.

Sorry I should have been more specific. Yeah I did mean when the light comes on after activating the lever. I appreciate the help. I just was wondering where I find these hubs so I can turn them?

They are in the center hub of the front wheels.

They will look like a generally dirtyer version of these;

My hubs are not attached to Linoleum...Hmmmm, I got cheated. Dont matter though since my Sidekick is now a large paperweight.
