Question Clutch engages real low.

Just picked up my "new" Zuki, 1998 2dr 5sp manual and I have a question or three...

1-The clutch engages real low, meaning that I have to press the pedal ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR and it will start grabbing within the first two inches of the floor (or so).

I'm not sure what this means, if the clutch is simply brand new or if there's a problem somewhere else that might eventually prevent me from disingaging the clutch EVEN when pressing the pedal all the way.

I know a worn out clutch will only engage at the TOP of the pedal, NOT the bottom like in my case.

The clutch otherwise grabs fine and is nice and solid, gears are normal too.

2-They replaced the front brakes, discs and pads, but not the rear, the inspection reads 20% left. The handbrake is really high but that's an easy adjustment, only thing I find is that when I brake it feels like I need to apply a lot of pressure to obtain breakage. Is it possible the brakes weren't adjusted properly and only the front brakes are working?

Or is it more likely there might be a brake booster problem?

3-I can hear a vibration at around 2500RPM from the bottom of the engine compartment, towards the front, sounds like a bearing.

I need to open the hood and listen to it more attentively under daylight. I picked up the truck after 8PM and it was dusk...

4-The truck otherwise looks and runs great, to be honest, if it weren't for the 140.000kms on it, it would look like it just rolled off the assembly plant! It's not in great condition, it's in SHOWROOM condition!!!

I'm so happy with it this far I had tears of joy in my eyes when I drove of with it!!!

Does the 98 still use the clutch cable? If so probly needs adjustment. Tighten the nut on the end of the cable at the trans. After I put in a new clutch mine was the same way (94)

I think the 98's are hydraulic. Try bleeding it.

OK I'll check out both possibilities, but otherwise there's no other failure or wear that would cause the clutch to engage that low?

I'm kinda worried about that since it's going to be the only thing, apart from the block and engine internals I won't be able to service myself.

Well, either it's hydraulic or the cable is really well hidden (invisible) and the truck runs so well that I don't want to tinker with it, the clutch still grabs real low but I'm getting real used to it...

I just spend the afternoon dropping a new head unit, front speakers and adding tricked out 6x9s (they light up) in the back.

It sounds real nice too. Going for a drive in a few minutes, can't wait. Top is off, weather is nice, ice cream will be good!
