Default 1996 sidekick compatibility

hello every i am ben "


i just bought a 1996 suzuki sidekick jx and it needs a computer what other computers other than the obvious (sidekick 1996 4 dr manual tranny) one can i use to get it running like for example can i use one from a 1994 at all if not. why and what is the difference.

I don't have any help, only to let you know people are out here. I think 1996 started OBD II which I believe is different from earlier years and probably different computers. I'm pretty sure they(ECMs) vary between different engines and drive trains. Good luck, Dave

so if i get a 96 to 99 sidekick 4dr manual tranny computer it will work?

Yea that should work. I wouldn't try anything older than a OBDII 96. There are differences one of them is the OBDII engines had a crankcase position sensor in additon to the camshaft positon sensor.

ok what computer could i use then 96 to 99 5 speed computer for 1.6 ltr also does it matter if it is a four door or two door it comes out of. as well does it matter if it from an auto or manual tranny truck

hey just wondering anybody can give me info for this

i need to know if i can use a ecm out of another vehicle?

does it matter auto to standard (my car is standard)

does it matter if the ecm was from a 4x4 or no? i have 4x4

does it matter if the ecm is out of two door? i have a 4 door

i would like to know asap because i want to start driving this so i can start transfering it into what i want it to be!

also wondering what is the biggest tires i can put with about 1.5 coil spacer lift? i don't want to rub at all!

I don't have any info, however, you might check with a junkyard, as I think they have books that cross reference part compatibility. Good luck, Dave
