I've just completed this engine change. many things had to be chaged but wasn't that bad. BUT!!!!! having a problem with the power. It doesn't have any. It idles great seems to run fine but when I put it in gear and drive it there just isn't any power to it.
Well the 1.6L 16V makes about 97HP and 104 LBS/FT Torque. My 5 speed does 0-60MPH in around 9-11 sec. and about 19 sec. in 1/4 mile. So it's slow. But you might what to check the timming many people have had problems with the lower timing pully.
So I've seen. It's at the shop now and they are having problems with it. Can't get codes, etc. Also they mentioned the timing and the possibility of problems with the belt. now I did have to change the distrib., don't know if there is a specific way that it has to go in but didn't have any problems installing it? It was different from that of the 96 so I wonder if it is effecting the fuel injecters?
