Default woah..more power and from 250km to 400km per tank !!

uh huh i removed the clutch fan and installed an electric fan on a relay and toggle switch in the truck. What a friggin difference the fan was out of a 95 sunfire did a little cutting on it and made a bracket to hold the rad tighter to the front for clearence. oh and i also welded the front differental. Ive been off roading a few times now and it goes through everything!!

and got my car out from storege .....

This is good to know. I'm going to use the A/C condenser fan off my other sidekick and do the samething. It would be great to have the fan hooked up to a ajustable thermostat.

Sounds like I need to get on this bandwagon. You say you got that big of a difference in fuel economy just by installing an electric fan?! I wouldn't think it would make such a big dent.

Where/how did you mount the electric fan in such a tiny space?

grinded down the new fan shroud a little where needed and drilled 2 holes in the corners (top) to use the existing shroud mounting bolts. But motly a lot of test fitting and cut a little more etc. I am also surprised at the difference in the extra 150 kms to a tank... But i am sure of it i clocked the same trip a week ago with out the electric fan so im positive of the results. Also the top end power gain is very noticable before going up hills at 120km/h it would loose some speed now on the same hills i can accelerate to 140. fyi truck is the 1.6 8 valve with 276000 on it. also i havnt had to turn on the fan as of yet it stays cool really good.

I installed the factory air conditioning condenser fan from my other sidekick, replacing the stock fan and shroud, it works great and theres a noticeable difference in power.

They do say belts rob power, is that right to assume that theory here?

I have an electric fan from a Pug 205 in my shed I may give this a go if I can figure out mounting points.

Shconer, what did you use for a shroud, or did you leave it on the condensor side of the radiator? How do you control the on/off operation? Details please. Thanks, Dave

The fan is removed from the condenser and I just removed the shroud, theres really no need for it as the fan is zip tired directly to the radiator and I just have hooked up to a switch at the moment but in the future I plan on controling it using a megasquirt stand alone EMS. I'll try to post some pics today.

I've also disconected the power steering pump.

Probably a stupid question but what's an EMS? Thanks for the pics. Dave
