I have a 1991 Tracker that will not start!Someone has run a power wire from the distributor to the injector wire already.I turn on the key and get the clicking relay under dash and clicking vacuum thing under the hood.If I run power direct from the battery to the pink wire on the TPS it will start and run pretty good.Does this mean I have an ECM problem or a TPS problem?
well I will save you some time I have the exact same problem
and I have done the following
different ecm.........same issue with exchange
different tps .........same issue
different map sensor ..............same isssue
ummm .......
now I am looking at the fuel pump area.... wireing
I was pulling on the wire and found that I can not get it to run at all now
so I am figuring a fuel pump or something wire related at the fuel tank
posibly a ground????
just no time to look at it right now....
I have a 92 tracker and its sitting in the back yard dead. And i had the same problems.that clicking sound coming from under the dash ..well when mine was doing that ,i removed the drivers side speaker and you will see a bigger relay i think its the main relay mine was fryed black almost fire material and then i got to the ecm and the capacitors were leaking .And then it was clicking at the front of the engine ..So i had to buy a book, and i have been studying it all winter ..So when i figure it out i will let you guys know ...I think its all in them ecm ..And all the little problems all run to that junky ecm ....So good luck..
dunno ifn this is of any help but ive been pulling apart all the wire plugs i can find behind the dash and ive been finding alot of connections going bad to the point of melting but you cant tell till you pull them apart. Just somthing you might want to check.

In my 92 tracker i found a little black box mounted on the floor above the clutch pettle its a plastic box with a computer chip in it, and i have no idea what it is ,I think its a ecm bypass chip or somthing but i do know that the plug in it will plug into the ecm ,I havent tryed yet but i was wondering if any of you guys have that same box cause i dont see it in the book,The guy i bought this tracker from is a mechanic and he cobbled this thing in and out I am also a mechanic in training ,working on one of these things is perfect practice for a mechanic wannabee.
