Default Manual transmission replacement

Hi

i'm replacing my manual transmission on a 1990 sidekick, I bought a used one but there is a slight difference between the two parts.

my old transmission has 2 sensors on top of it, and the new one only one sensor. i figured that one of the sensor is probably a switch for the reverse light... what is the other one for . the elctrical wires are identical except that on the one that i bought 2 wires have been cut.

Can i install it and plug only one sensor?

thank you

Denis

What year vehicle is the new tranny from? Your other sensor could be a speed sensor in which case you cannot use the new one, due to it being hooked into the ECM. I could be wrong. Anybody else have any ideas?

Finally my best guess with the electrical diagram is that the second sensor is a 5th gear sensor according to the diagram... i'll plugg everything this week and let readers know if i was right. the transm. comes from a 1992 suzuki
