I recently picked up a '96 Tracker 4 door 4x4 that needs some work. This is my first Suzuki car, so I don't have a lot of experience working on them. The light that illuminates the gas gauge is burned out, and I would like to remove the light for the airbags that is on because I disabled the passenger side one. I can get all of the necessary trim off and get the instrument cluster detached, but the speedo cable does not let me pull it out enough to get to the back of it. How do I detach the cable from the speedo to get the cluster out? Do I have to detach the cable from the transmission and loosen it from all the mounting points to get at it?
Thanks!
C'mon, all these people and no one knows how to replace a dash light?! It's aggravating that I just removed and installed the transmission/transfer case, replaced the clutch, pressure plate and flywheel, and installed an exhaust system by myself, yet this seemingly simple task is kicking my butt! HELP!
Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of the Auto Zone help feature. I still don't have enough slack in my speedo cable to get the cluster out very far, but at least I know how it attaches now - that's half the battle!
