any signs of leakage by the radiator to fault that component? your coolant is either going internally into the engine or leaking externally, did you check the oil level/condition? (make sure its not leaking into the combustion chamber), any white smoke coming from the exhaust? how long do you drive until the rad is empty?

just some thoughts,

Could be a bad radiator cap or a freeze plug is going bad. I would have the cooling system pressure tested to verify.

Default re: radiator not holdin water/ 95' escudo

HEY guys, i havent seen any signs of leakage around my engine or on the water pump so i dont think its a leak thats causin itto drink water like that. wat really happens is this, if radiator is filled with water and i drive a mild pace without revin out, then it doesnt call for water, but if i drive hard i would hav to tap it up with water which shouldnt be.
When i open d radiator and rev from inside d engine i can see the water cummin back up tru the radiator instead of circulating smoothly throuth it. i need help people, cuz it seems like water isnt circulatin thoroughly?

is it over heating and that is how you are losing the coolant? the fluid has to go somewhere, pressure test the system, and check the thermostat, upper rad hose should be hot when the t-stat open @ full hot,

just an idea,

I would guess that your head is cracked worse than you think and it's leaking through it or theres something wrong with the head gasket. There shouldn't be that much pressure built up in coolant system. My head gasket is blown and it is doing the same thing.

If your thermostat is bad and your rad cap is also you will not see a wet spot while parked. When you are driving it hard the coolant is coming out of the cap. If the cooling system was fully pressurized. The coolant would go to the overflow bottle and when it cools it will return to the radiator.
