Default gear noise

as some of you know i had my clutch replaced a week ago. it works perfect, all gears are easy to get into, synchromesh is perfect no problems in that area. i have noticed though that when i'm driving a couple of things happen. if i am in gear and accelerate there is a light whirring(almost grinding) noise. also if i am in gear and take my foot off gas pedal that same noise appears but louder. if i speed up again the noise is still there but as i said above it is quieter.??? other bearings showing there age????? it got a new clutch/pressure plate, throw out and input shaft bearing.

well i guess i found out my problem (the tranny quit in traffic today after i posted the new thread). it acted almost like it did a week ago when my clutch failed. i am ordering a used tranny from local yard tomorrow ,enough is enough. the input shaft was wore but never figured it would cause this in less than a week.

UPDATE. IT was just a messed up clutch cable. This problem is keeping me on my toes. never would have guess the cable would act like that.

Remember this?

Sounds like you aren't getting full disengagement.

How does the clutch pedal feel? Do you have about a 1/2"-1" of free play at the top? If you have a bunch more, then check your clutch master cylinder as it may be shot or the pedal linkage is out of adjustment (or your cable isn't adjusted properly, or stretched / broken if so equipped).

After that, it's a clutch fork or pressure plate problem.
I'm glad you're O.K. now.

sadly i do remember. i think that reply jinked me. originally (last week) it was one of the springs in the flywheel had broken right out of place. so put in new clutch kit. it felt awesome worked absolutely great. but because the installer did not hook up cable to it's holding clamps it frayed against the power steering pulley(his honest mistake). in all the years of driving sticks (close to 1,000,000 km.) i never seen or heard of a bad cable but now i see it can happen. i also never had a flat tire so i'm expecting one soon.lol
