input shaft in tranny

well my tranny guy found out it is definitely my clutch. also he said the input shaft is really worn where the pilot bearing sits. this happened on the first tranny i had back 5-6 years ago. he wants me to take a look at it tomorrow morning to make a decision to simply replace the clutch/pressure plate and sit the input shaft bearing in a better spot(tweeking it)or should i go for a differernt tranny altogether. anybody here this before as well? driving me crazy. $$$$ . tranny guy also said if i go used there is no garantee that tranny doesn't have it's own problems. it comes with a warantee but it is alot of work and time and $$$ to start playing a swap game.

got the truck back today. it is awesome. repositioned the pilot bearing and it seems o.k.. My tranny guy got me a pro gold series luk clutch kit for his cost(45% off retail) plus a few bucks for supper for him and his wife. i am completely impressed with this clutch. it has more springs in the pressure plate than other brands so it is extremely smooth operation as if you are actaully trying to feather the load on start up even though you are not.it also seems to provide quieter operation. what seemed to be a pain has turned out to be real good.
