1996 Geo Tracker - Airbag light flashes and beeps

Hi all,
since yesterday I am the proud owner of a Geo Tracker. Drives great but I have a concern.
When I start the car, the airbag light flashes and beeps for a while. It does stop after a while but I'm not so sure if this is normal? do all Geo Trackers do this, or could it mean there's something wrong?
Any information would be more then welcome!

It is not normal in any car with airbags. If light flashes and also beeps you should take care of it as soon as possible. Maybe the car had a previous accident and/or the srs airbag module is damage. I dont know if the airbag could malfunction and deploy out of nothing but anyways i dont want to drive my fun car and out of nothing have a huge bag on my face or have an accident (knock on wood) and my airbags didnt deploy... Check the two sensors on each side behind plastic bumper and airbag ECU, fuses, etc. I think there are some scanners that read codes from airbag module, so take it to an electromechanic ASAP.

Thanks for the advice prcruiser! Now I know it's not normal I will take it to the garage to let it check.
