I ahve a 1994 Suzuki Sidekick. I had it in the shop for over a year. It was in the shop becuase when you try to start it it doesn't turn over. It sounds like it wants to start but doesn't. I was told to replace the computer i replaced it. The shop got it to crank once during its yearlong stay but couldn't get it to start again. I was seeing if anyone else had this same problem or anyone in the atlanta area could look at it or fix it or tell of a shop that could fix it. I have had this care since 1998 and really don't want to sell it it is in good physical condition. So any help will be appreciated....
I think you gotta be more explicit, if you say it won't turn over, that means that the starter isn't turning the engine over at all. If it sounds like it wants to start, that means that the starter is turning the engine over. If it won't turn over that's an entirely different condition than if it cranks over but doesnt start. Good luck with it, Tracka
It isn't the starter. when you first turn the ignition key you just here it cranking but the engine never fires on (like the spark plugs aren't firing).
sounds like you have a broken timing belt..just a guess...it happened to me once...crank turns over but the camshaft doesn't, and the cam shaft turns the distributor. You can check this by removing the distributor cap and watch and see if the rotor button turns while someone cranks it over. If it does not turn your belt is broken.
