Default Help With Wiring Interior Neon Light

Really need some help here please!

I bought a new 12v light unit off ebay which I like. It comes with a neon light that goes around the light, a spotlight and a 'flash to the music' mode. It comes with several modes by 2 switchs, with 3 settings each. Switch one is simpily spotlight, flash or neon (in that order downwards). Switch 2 is door, off then on.

The unit comes with a black, yellow and red cable. The cabls from my interior light, which I pulled out from the chassic in the middle, are black/red and white.

The way to get this working is to join the yellow cable to the earth point, and the red to white cable, but this is a power connection so it stays on whether or not I want it to.

I want it to come on when I open the doors, can anyone help?

Can anyone tell me how to set this up please? I understand there is a current difference between a LED and a neon, so how can I get around this? I NEED MORE POWER!!!

Not sure what car you have, but on my 4-door Tracker the door switches control the negative (black) cable, which goes to the dome light. So the dome light has two grounds - one for normal on/off (which can be a separate wire or just from the chasis) and one controlled by opening/closing of the doors. You have only one (I think it was white) positive cable that goes to the dome light and it is always charged.
