update on progress on my Tracker.... I have started with a rebuilt ECM, and that didn't fix the problem, I then installed a new fuel pump, still no fix, thought it was a bad injector, so I replaced the injector, and my problem still exsists. The problem is that fuel is not getting to the injector, and the vehicle seems to die at will??? The reason I thought the injector was bad, was one day when it wasn't running, I had tapped on the top of the injector with a screwdriver handle and it fired up, and ran for a few days. The next time it died, I tried the same thing tapping on the injector, and it fired back up. I can pour gas down the throttle body and it will fire no problem, there is gas coming in to the TB and gas coming out of the regulator, but no gas from the injector. Any ideas on what I could possibly check next
What do you mean by gas coming out of the reg? That usauly means reg. is toast. Do you hear the FP coming on when you put the key in the on position? Do you hear the FP relay click? More info please.
What I meant by gas coming out of the reg, is when I take the hose off and turn the key on, gas is shooting out of the regulator. I don't know if this is suppose to happen, or is the regulator not working properly???
Well, installed a new regulator today, and still no cure??? I am still not getting fuel into the TB. I can pour fuel in and it will fire, but not gas is coming in through the key?? What I also noticed today was when I disconnected the battery and re-connected, it fired, but didn't stay running. So I tried disconnecting the battery again and same thing, fired but never stayed running. I don't have a clue what I could check next, but does anybody think the re-built ECM I got could be faulty?? I just don't know what else it could be, I've pretty much replaced everthing that has to deal with fuel...thnx
Can someone tell me if the ECM will have these intermittent problems or is it usually on or off???? I have ran my Tracker for a week straight with a few stumbles, but it kept running, now it seems to die more often
This is the second re-built ECM I have put in cause I thought the first one was bad, but the second one I put in is doing the same things
Sorry the reg. was not the fix. It is not easy to diagnose a problem without seeing and hearing what is going on. What are the chances of getting two bad ECMs? Rare but possible. Especially if you got them from the same place. I agree with Schoner. Check all your wires from injector back to ECM. Pull all connectors and spray with electronic cleaner, followed by electronic lube. Somewhere along the line the injector is not getting the signal to open, unless the injector itself is bad or going bad. Grounds are very important. Make sure all body to motor grounds are making good contact. Remove them and clean the area where they bolt to. I would add a ground from the Ecm chassis to a confirmed good ground area as added protection. Hope this helps.
Good luck
The ECM's I purchased did come from the same place, and as far as the injector, it is brand new, just installed it. I believe the ECM's came from Trailsidekick out of the States
