Default fuel or.....

My 89 Tracker seems to cut out or somthing after either it warms up or is driven for a distance. It feels like a plugged fuel filter @ first bogging down @ wide open throttle then it progresevly gets worse till it wont even make it up a small hill. However if you shut it off and restart it while still rolling ,1 sumtimes twice its ok and runs mint for a while then it starts the same sh!t again. I have a fuel pump from a 93 jimmy with a 4.3 in the tank and am wondering if it could have anything to do with the prob.... or does this sound like a ecm issue? The fuel filter is new.

How long has it had that fuel pump in it? Has it ever run right with that pump? Tracka

Nascar, don't worry, I'm sure I'll give you another question before long. Tracka

Default fuel

Definitely sounds lke a fuel pump issue, but for it to be worse after driving a while, it seems like it might be filter or return line. (is there a return line on '89?)
Might be the heat or movement may be changing the way an electrical connection is being made. Short, or no ground?
Have you checked map, tps?
Is the cat glowing after a ride at night?
Try testing evap, pvc, either may be clogged.

I think the fuel pump has too much pressure for that tiny motor. So again when did this start happening. Before or after the switch was made?

Default too much

Exactly what I was thinking, Nascar. Like it's filling too much, and choking out the return, or chamber; whatever provision for un-used fuel is in the '89. That or creating it's own back pressure, effectively shutting down the pump.
Is there any fuel smell when you re-start on the run? I mean, like the excess got blown out the tailpipe?
I think your evap can might be full of gas from this, not real hard to check.

no smell of gas at all, and its fine for about 15- 20 mins of driving then in 5th gear as you step into it the throttle body opens up and instead of gaining speed it slows down. If you let off the throttle it picks up speed but as time goes on it gets to the point where if you touch the gas at all it bogs out. I bought it and it was not running but i am also leaning towards the fuel pump being too much i know the 4.3 vortecs drink a hell of alot more fuel then this baby 1.6. I had the pump laying around so i figured id make it work save buying one. Just wanted to kinda get some other opinions first before i spend the money for a new fuel pump only to find it is a common problem with somthing else.
Thanx everyone for your input! Dave

I would agree the pump is flowing to much at to high a pressure and the fuel regulator cant keep the pressure low enough.
