93 Sidekick 4x4 Noise???

I just purchased a 93 Sidekick with auto locking hubs . When you drive in 2 wheel drive there is a loud noise in the right front like a loud wheel bearing , Not everytime you drive it. If you operate it in 4 wheel drive it never makes the noise . Any ideas ??? Rick

just a guess here but it could be the front axel is touching the hub slightly when in 2wd... not quite disengageing.?

Yeah, sounds like what he says. I had something similar going on with my '97 but only when the hubs were locked (manual) and when the temperature was cold, but not in 4WD. Only when 2WD was engaged and the hubs locked.

What do you think the problem is defective locking hub? What did you have to do to yours to get rid of the noise? Rick
