Default 93 sunrunner, auto vs manual trans

A friend has a 93 sunrunner for sale. Auto trans. In good shape. I need it only to go on a woodlot with tractor trails, but sea level to 1500 feet. So up or down, never level. Never fast, no big loads, but good slopes. How is compression in low range? Or low gear in high range?I won't buy it if I'm always on the brakes... Thanks for your advice and greetings from chilly Quebec.

Take it for a test drive. Low range is pretty low and if it's a 4 speed it wont shift into 4th when in low.

i would say it would be fine for what you are doing, i have a 2dr, with the 3spd auto, and it feels like you hit the brakes when you let off the gas. i usualy have to have my foot on the gas going down hills so that i wont slow down.
i agree with taking it out for a test drive first, thats the only way to know if it will be good for you.
