Hi guys im just about to buy a suzuki vitara JLX, particularily a 1992-1995 one.
Is there anything in particular problem wise i need to check, obviously most of the
cars are gonna have 90k+ mileage but in there anything i need to look out for?

Seen one with an oil leak below the oil filter, and the engine moves quite a lot when idling therefore must need a new engine mount?

thanks

Fran

recommend a definate mechanical check, look for timing belt replacement, check fluid levels in front/rear diff, transfer case and condition (if dirty then it has been neglected), oil leak below oil filter if not filter is either oil pan or coming from oil pump and running down the oil pan (mine has a small leak their), valve adjustments required every 25,000km,

hope this helps,

94box.

make sure that it shifts easily into all the gears and in and out of 4x4 hi and lo without problems, make sur ehte hubs turn in and out easy, that kind of thing, make sure the gas door opens properly. make sure the E brake works and isn't rusted to the point it no longer works, make sure that all of the features like cruise control work. other than that the stuff 94box said would finish it up. Oh yeah check the oil filter to make sure that it doesn't have a layer of grease or something on it, if it does its a dead give away it hasn't been changed in a long time. A fairly clean oil filter is a good sign they kept up on maintaince on it.
