I was riding in my 96 Tracker when all of a sudden the radio would not change stations and the volume control would not operate....the Tachometer started going crazy and then I lost power.....I shut it down and attempted to restart it....All I got was a click fromt he solenoid.....I attmepted to jump it and it worked...the Tracker only ran for about three minutes before it lost all power (like it was not timed properly) and died..Help!!! Any suggetions would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

umm let me get this straight you were driving and the radio went crazy and then what exactly did the tach do? did it start bouncing? did it spike? or did it drop rapidly? those are some important things, Also the click from the solenoid would probably tell me that its a dead battery, but it could be other things check the connections, good trick to check connections is turn on the headlights and if they turn on connections fine, if they are off and you wiggle the connectios and they turn on its the connections. Now for the loss of power part what exactly happened? did it stall? any leaking fluids? i mean more details would be nice

I think I figured it out..........Their is a sensor on the air intake that was shutting it down....I cleaned it up and now it is running but sometimes it still shuts down on me..........

Alternator is not charging or ground wire on the neg. side of battery needs cleaning on both ends. Bring it to a parts place that will check alt. for free.
