Sounds like a vacuum leak to me.
Instead of checking all your hoses, I'd get a can of starting fluid and spray in the vicinity of any seals on the carburetor itself while the engine is idling. Don't forget the base mount.
When the engine rpms jump as you spray, you found the leak.
