91 samurai with ck engine light on.

I have a 1991 Samurai that is fuel injected. It keeps turning the ck engine light on and the code that it gives is for hot engine, but the engine is not hot. the temp gauge reads half and I installed a temp gauge and it only reads 180 degrees? What gives. I hav ckd the wiring and the it looks good. Any Ideas everyone. Any help greatly apreciated.

Have you reset the check engine switch located under your guage pod?
