Jimny SJ aftermarket radiator.

i need help on finding a aftermarket jimny sj radiator. preferably aluminum. my radiator is always overeating now. so i think its about time to change it. i really need help. and how much would it cost me. any help would be much appreciated

Hi spo3nazgul,

I assume you're still cooling off the radiator with the original pulley driven fan?

Just wondering if you guys have access to Toyota Kijang (Assembled in Indonesia) or Isuzu Panther over there? It's quite common for us to use them Radiators here (slightly bigger size, so only need to modify the mounting brackets).

My personal rig is still running on the original radiator, yes, it does overheat at times (especially in heavy traffic). Made some small modification to it;

Bought a used Mitsubishi Galant Radiator Fan (Electric) - USD 15.00 from the junk yard.

Took out the original Air Conditioner Fan (Too small to do any good)

Made some minor modifications to mount the bigger Radiator Fan in front of the Air Con Condenser. Cost about 5 bucks at the local workshop including materials and workmanship

Make sure the wiring is right or you'll have it blowing the wrong way. I'll wired mine up so that it'll turn on whenever I switch on the Air Con

Now, whenever the temperature is going up or I'm stuck in traffic, Just turn on the Air Conditioner and watch the Temp Meter go down.

Junkyard radiators are an option, if you can find one that fits and is in great condition.
But if you are really looking for an aluminum upgrade try PetroWorks
I did a review/install on one of theirs a few years ago and it was a perfect fit.

Just a little tip, if you put in an electric fan add an on/off switch on your dashboard, so if you happen to go through high water you can shut down the fan so it does'nt throw water up all over your electrics. The water your driving through will keep the rad cool till you come out the other side, then switch the fan back on.

yeah i'm thinking keep the stock radiator already cause when i transfered my AC near to the gas tank and changed the compressor and evaporator to a much more larger one it doesnt overheat that much....but i have another problem cause i'm planning to add a flex a lite fan for the radiator. but it will take a toll on the battery my stock alternator cant cut especially at night with AC on and headlights plus fog lights plus the sound sytem. i dont want to buy a new batt cause i just changed it. what alternator do use suggest? I need a heay duty alternator

I got a used/reconditioned unit locally rated at 80A for about USD 70 two years ago. Not sure what make it is but I was told it was formerly taken from Mitsubishi Galant.

Many of the Zook Vendors have a GM Alt kit that will let you replace that 55 amp toy with a 90 or 110 amp GM unit. I did that to my trail rig and now I have no trouble running dual batteries and a winch...

Yes, bt I would suggest a larger battery than stock...
Go to any of the sites listed above and they will have installation kits. They can also help you with part numbers for the Alt. A junkyard Alt works just fine.
