The wife just bought me a 1988 Samuri so we can take it on the beach in MD/VA. I plan on going over it over the next few weekends to get a feel for it. Seems to be in pretty good shape. Previous owner had since 2001 and was 2nd owner and it was his 3rd Samuri. He did say it could use a tune up. Any good tips and mods would be much apprecieated. Thanks in advance.

Like your family, our '88 was bought as a present for my wife. Since it'll only be used off-road at our place, "street legal" didn't need to be a requirement. These things are really NEAT without door, roof and windshield!! And I'm thinking about your beach driving when I write that.

If you live 'on the beach' that might be a great thing to do. If you gotta drive across public roads, then maybe only remove doors and roof (if it's legal in your area to drive w/o doors).
