Default Steering/Wheels Shaking

I bought a used 2002 Jimmy a few weeks ago and when you accelerate over 60kms and go over a bump the whole car starts to shake.. the steering wheel and wheels. When I go fast on a non-bumpy road the car is fine until I brake and then it starts to shake. Please help as I live in Panama and the mechanics need some direction!!!

Default

When it happens at a certain speed all the time, it is a balance problem (usually tire out of balance or a popped cord). When it only happens with a direct input from the road (bump) then it usually is a bad tie rod end or loose bearings. Jack the vehicle up, put the axle on jack stands so it won't drop on your foot, and then shake the tire and see if anything 'clunks'.

Thumbs up shudder

I think you will find your king pin bearings are shot and have lost there preload
replace bearings bearing part number 30202 available rock auto you may want to replace the seals and steering damper at the same time:
