heater and defrost issues

winter is coming and i'm not ready! my '88 samurai blows air strong for heat. no flow when i switch to defrost. neither case do i get hot air.

i changed the thermostat. no change in symptoms. my manual says to change the heater core, must pull steering wheel and several other items. i'm not skilled enough for that remedy.

anything else i can try before i pay an arm and a leg for a resolution?

anybody have a work around for defrost windshield?
i tried 12 volt defrost/fan. that was inadequate.

Take a few minutes to go through these. You probably have a bunch of leaves or twigs stuffed in there. It's 20 years old, it may be time to do some spring cleaning.
