I am one glitch away from an almost perfect samurai.

In 1986 I flew from Ohio to Florida to buy my first brand new car. A 1986 Samurai JX.

I drove it for 5 years and put 85k miles on it (3000 in the first week - Florida to Ohio then back to North Carolina and back to Ohio). For 5 years it never hiccuped.

I drove it back a forth from middle of Ohio to Chicago every other weekend (for one year) while dating my wife.

After my 60th and final payment... somebody in a box truck waved her out around him into the path of a car (and then the guy who waved her out drove off). She was unhurt but the samurai's front axle was shifted about 5 inches to the right.

I've waited 22 years to be able to play with one again.

I am hoping by week's end to have pictures to post here.

Default Finally fixed and finished.

Bottom line on the problem... ECM was blown. Put in rebuilt ECM from Hawk Strictly suzuki and I was up and running.

Did have an issue with two relays under the dash clicking. At first I thought they were for the fuel pump and was going to cause a problem. Ended up unplugging them both and car still runs great??? I think they were trying to drive the AC unit which is no longer working and only half there (i.e. compressor is gone).

Anyways here is my final entry with a picture of my finished 91 samurai with new paint, rims and carpet. Everything else is original.

Kyle

I did the body work myself. I made a couple rookie style mistakes (not realizing how many small dings would show up when the gloss paint was applied).

The good thing is the only rust was around the windshield and along the rocker panels. None was too severe. The fenders and flares were perfect.

This samurai was pulled behind a camper for it first years and then sat in a store and lock for 5 years. It has a great body that if nothing else... I have prolonged for a few years until someone decides something new.

I like the original look (aside from the rims).

It will be my daily (good weather) driver for awhile... could eventually end up on ebay in a year or two.

Oh yeah... paint job was $650 from a local body shop.
