Default 1986 samurai idle problems

I have owned my 1986 samurai for several months. It always runs great. After hunting yesterday my sammi would die if I let it idle. I was wondering if a carb problem could cause this or if I should look at somthing else. Any help would be appreciated.

What do you mean by the timing. I have messed with the carbs idle. It seemed to work for a while but now it will die when I let off the gas. It does not seem to effect any other operation of the vehicle. It is just annoying.

Default I had the same problem

I hope I'm not too late to help out a little. I had this happen with my 88 Samurai. I would have to give it gas even when parked and couldn't let it idle or it would die. Replaced the battery twice, but it was never the problem. Unfortunately it was the alternator, which cost me $100 something dollars, but after that it ran fine.
