Yes exactly as your problem. I have a new Jimny, only 10000 km and notice that when accelerating between 40 -50 mph and decelerating 60-30mph I get a steering wheel shake, a shimmy, but not ever, in times all is well. It is not a mechanical worn out it is a defect.
In all terrain, dirty ground, 4x4, it didn't appears. You can put a bearing suspender.
But be aware and happy with it and take care.

Default any new ideas?

Hi guys,

Still the same steering wheel problems here. The service centers can only do so much as this may be a manufacturing problem already. I would assume that not all jimny's are like this. If you have anything, please let me know. If something comes up, i'll post a note here as well.

Thanks and drive safely.

Default wiggling problem

Hi,

I've had the same problems on my 2006 jimny at.
Check your tires for runout (axle&radial) and rims.If tire runout exceeds tolerances there's no way of stopping wiggling.
If all tires & rims are ok then try sliding the tire over rim to adjust exact uniformity. There's one point for optimal match(A good technician will know how to do this). After rebalancing i hope you'll have smooth ride.

Default Steering Stabilizer

Had the same shudder problems with my Jimny JLX 2004 (30.000 km) after standard wheels/tyres were replaced with a new set of (standard) rims with winter tyres 205/70/15.

The dealer solved the problem (all factory warranty)
in sequential order:
Wheels balanced (problem still there)
Kingpin-bearings replaced (problem almost gone)
Installed Steering Stabilizer (problem gone)
No need for wheel alignment.
Steering is a little heavier, but overall the handling is improved, no sudden shocks on rocky roads, less reaction on sidewinds.
Should be factory-mounted.

Default Shudder...

I am another Jimny owner with the same problem... It happens when one of the front wheels hits a hole... It appeared @ 15000km, more or less, was 'solved' after front wheels were balanced & aligned, but has come back... I have changed the dampers (for worse...). What's that 'Steering Stabilizer' that you mention, Chocotoff...?? My Jimny (a 65-hp Diesel) has, of course, the standard front stabilizer bar...

Default Steering Damper

The stabilizer also called steering damper can be found in a lot of 4x4 shops (on and offline)

here´s a link: Suzisport International

Thanks for the tip and the montage instructions, Chocotoff... I have already ordered one of those dampers, specially dimensioned for the Jimny. The Australian one seemed a bit far away... Thus, I opted for a local supplier (I live in Spain) and -after locating it through the internet. I contacted it and ordered the damper this very afternoon...

Thanks, once more.
