Default One of those CD Radio code questions again

Hello all.

I have a Ignis and last month leaving the lights on I had a flat battery and lost the code. Now when I purchased the car from WJ KINGS Bromley the Bosch unit was already working. Of course when I looked for the code amongst all the paper work I couldn't find it. I've been back to Kings who withdrew the unit to obtain the serial no: but that was two weeks ago and I still haven't received the code.

Now I'm sure I've seen serial no's posted here and codes given so I'll try my luck

Thanks in advance.

Hi
I recently bought an Ignis. It had had two previous owners, and came without a radio code. After reading the post about losing some, if not all, of the readout in the pod, I’ve been anxious to (a) improve the audio quality without replacing the original radio (b) find the code. I was able to improve the audio quality (see my previous posting) but I’ve been persevering with the radio code problems in case that, at some time during my ownership of the car, the battery either loses power or has to be disconnected.
I’ve badgered the dealer who sold me the car. They said that as they originally supplied the car, their records should show the radio code. It didn’t. They then said that if they could take the radio out and read the serial number on the radio casing, they could email Suzuki in Japan, who should / may have the code. The only problem with this was is that taking the radio out automatically unplugs it from the power source, and the radio is disabled. So, I would be losing the radio for a few days, and Suzuki may not have the code, so I’d have to replace the radio anyway.
The dealership also pointed out a further problem: even if Suzuki did have the code, it’s always possible that, at some stage, a previous owner reset the code to their own number, so the original, code (even if I could get hold of it) would be useless. All in all, a real bugger. I then went to a local guy “Radiocode Man” who specialises in finding codes for car radios and keys. He looked at the radio and agreed with the dealer, saying that taking the radio out would disable the radio. He could then either send the code away to Suzuki or – using specialist software on a laptop – try to find the code – again with no guarantee that he would be able to do so with this particular radio.
He also said something interesting. He said that when these radios were turned on, the word CODE usually appears on the pod display, then disappears, and the radio comes on. He noted that my radio doesn’t do this, the word CODE doesn’t appear, the radio just comes straight on. He thought that this might mean that the radio wasn’t coded. He said he had come across some which weren’t. The only way to find out would, of course, be to take the radio out, put it back and see. Arggg!
Obviously, your radio is coded as you have lost the function, so I suggest that your best option is to keep putting pressure on the dealership to find out the code from Suzuki, or have a word with your local radio code person, there’s usually one in every town. I understand that if you have the serial number they should be able to help. Incidentally, I note that you say your radio is a Bosch. Mine is a Blaupunk, and I understand that most of the ones in the Ignis are.

Hope this helps. Does anyone have any other ideas?
