Immobiliser light correct status?
Hello, I wonder if anyone can answer a simple question:-
I have a 2006 Ignis 1.3 2WD (UK model).
With the ignition turned on, the engine fault, immobiliser and EPS lights all stay on solid orange, even after the "boot up" period.
The car will not start. It used to run OK, but I can't remember whether the immobiliser light only went out after it started or not. I don't have a handbook.
So the question is, should the immobiliser light be on when the ignition is on but the engine isn't started?
If I can get a definitive answer to this then I'll post more details on the background to the problem. The engine turns over fine on the starter and it's getting sparks because it will fire with EasyStart in the intake. The fuel pump sounds like it's behaving properly and there's fuel in the tank. There are no OBD codes but I've only checked on a cheap-and-cheerful Bluetooth module so that means nothing.
I've read lots of posts saying it's a problem with the transponder in the key. The batteries are flat in the key but it's been like this ever since I got it and used to start OK even after lying for months un-used. If it's an immobiliser problem it seems odd that it lets the starter and sparks work but won't inject fuel, but I suppose it's possible.
Anyway any pointers on the correct behaviour of the immobiliser light most appreciated.
