Ive just been going through some old posts on the forum and read the one about the yaris vs ignis.

have you read whats on the toyota forum? total shite a yaris t sport driver reckons he "blew away" an ignis sport check your facts mate!!

the ignis is well under a tonne (945kg) power to weight is 116 bhp per tonne

the yaris is 960 kg power to weight is 109bhp per tonne

that ignis drivers either driving his dads car or had some one in with him

has anyone had a run in with a C2 GT? now thats a car that would give you a run 4 your money. CI Tune has just done a replica s1600 wide arch kit for the C2 wish some one did a s1600 kit 4 the IS

the C2 GT only has 108bhp ans still weighs more than the IS. Its not exactly matching budget wise either. A spanking new IS will cost u under 10,000 while the C2 GT is over 10,500. The only colour you can get is red too unless you pay an exra £300!

Theres not even a close ratio gear box installed so 0-60 takes an agonising 8.6 seconds compared to a run-in ignis sport which pips it at 7.9.

The people on the Yaris site are full of ****. No factory standard car in the same price range (up to £10,000) with an engine smaller than or equal to a 1.6 16valve can "blow off" an ignis sport - fact.

Citroen C2 VTR, VTR and GT - not as quick and can cost over £10,000, not as many extras as standard
MCC Smart forfour GT model (turbo 1.1ltre) - costs over £12,000 from new
Toyota Yaris T-sport - heavier and slower

The only thing to top Suzuki in this field however will be.... themselves! Or at least possibly with the new Swift GTI which is to replace the Ignis in the JWRC. It will be a 1.6 litre and will have a 6 speed gear box and 115bhp... all thats left to see is if the standard model comes to 10,000 or less....

and by the way, the IS doesnt need a wheel arch widening kit, the bodykit that comes as standard on the IS has very large wheel arches which will fit up to 18s (without lowering).

the Ignis might not need a wide arch kit to get 18's on but it does run on 15's for a reason.

The 0-60 time

bigger wheels might increase top speed but will reduce acceleration times
i doubt an IS would do 0-60 in under 8 secs

7.9 is the run-in figure for an IS. By run-in i mean has 12,000 miles on the clock meaning that you can rev the engine further up the dial without fear of damaging it. This is also with a higher octane petrol which is not so prone to combusting at high revs which means there is less of a power drop off at around the 6000 mark.

id still like to go head to head with a C2
the VTS has the same power to weight ratio as the ignis sport, 116 bhp/ton
its got more power but is heavier, got to agree about the Ignis giving a bigger bang 4 your buck though a dealer near me has them for £6500 and i only paid slightly more than that myself.

have you noticed that some car mags have reviewed the Ignis sport but then forgot about it?
EVO who usually do very good group tests and featured the Ignis vs C2 VTS have now totally forgoten it pointing people to the sport ka
they just did a feature on entry level hot hatches for under 10k with the sport ka and that new micra 160.
Im sorry but the ignis beats both of them hands down and is now well under 10k
but maybe thats a good thing cos it can be our little secret...

Hi there, i sold a yaris T sport to buy an Iggy Sport as i got pipped by one in a little dual carriageway race! However they are very similarly matched in real world road conditions. Neither can dust each other to be honest.

The C2 VTS does go well though but not as well as the Lupo GTI, one of them made my Iggy look slow!
