08 Forenza replace tail light bulb

i'm trying to replace my tail light bulb in my 08 forenza sedan...owner's manual says to just turn casing counter clockwise and then remove the bulb...i've tried turning this thing but it isn't budging...anyone else have this problem?

ive never had one stuck before. just to be clear. looking at the back of the light your trying to turn the part with the wires coming out of it right? if it wont turn counterclockwise did you try clockwise? or did you try to pull it straight out of the light? maybe it was in the turned position already? let me know what you find out
