Transmission Range Sensor???

I tried posting this on an ongoing post, but it seems that post died and no one is reading it any more. Click HERE to see that post.

I have a 2006 Suzuki Forenza with the same transmission issues mentioned in post above. Just started occuring at around 61000 miles. I am all ready to replace the Transmission Range Sensor, however, I am having difficulty finding the part.

I have searched for it on the Suzuki parts page, but no luck.

On a different post in this forum (click HERE to get to that post), the poster gave this part number as the correct piece - 37720-86Z01.

But when I search for this on the Suzuki parts site, it brings up a neutral safety switch ... which seems to be a different part than I am looking for based on what I have found out there in web world.

Can anyone clear this mystery up for me? Where can I find a transmission range sensor for a 2006 Forenza?

you could call suzukicarparts.com and just ask them. there really helpful im sure they could get you the right part. also some people have gotten parts from rockauto.com

Thanks! I just went to the dealership and picked up the part for just under $50. Every where I looked online, they no longer had the part. And they all kept offering up a Neutral Safety Switch, which is not the same thing.

This is my conspiracy thinking ... Suzuki knows this part is going bad, and they aren't letting anyone sell this part except for them with the hopes that you will ask them to put it on for you. Even the part I got from the dealership is a "non-returnable part".

It all seems kind of fishy to me.

But, I've got the part, and now ... I've got to install the part.

Hello, Buttramd... and everyone else viewing...

I have a 2006 Suzuki Forenza, and the car seems to come out of gear once in a while while driving slow and even highway speeds. Everything I have read seems to point to this TRS, but I did see the links telling the part number is a neutral safety switch. Is this a conspiracy or what ? The dealer doesn't want to help me until I bring the car or part in. One website oemsuzuki parts says the 37720-86z01 is a neutral safety switch, but another link "everything you need to know" shows instructions for replacing the TRS, and that has the same part number.

Buttramd, what is the part number from the part you bought, and are yet to install ? Did you install it, and did it fix your problem ?

So, the part number you referred to being a neutral safety switch IS the correct part number ? 37720-86z01 shows as a neutral safety switch on oemsuzukiparts.com, but you were saying that the transmission range sensor and neutral safety switch were 2 different parts ?, the "everything you need to know page" shows same part number for TRS, so is the suzuki website not showing the right part number for their neutral safety switch??, or are they indeed the SAME THING? Where online can I find the right part ?
or do I have to go to the Dealer and fight with them, with the picture of the part and say, this is what I need ? (I love working on cars....!)

You won't find the part online. I looked all over, but no one is selling it any more. You can only get it at a Suzuki Dealership. And when they slide it to you over the counter, they make sure you know that it's a non-refundable part.

I think Suzuki knows the TRS is an issue and they're trying to capitalize on the problem by making people come ONLY to them to get it fixed.
