Default larger rims and tires (Newbie)

Hey I have a 1998 suzuki esteem 4 door sedan. I do not like the look of its tiny rims and tire P175/70 R13 hence wondering how much bigger I can go...please advise.

I have some size 14's on mine with normal sized tires for the rims, you do not want to go too big on the tires on this car because the strut-springs do not handle a lot of weight very well and if you hit a good bump your tires will hit the top of the wheel wells.

Well you can go as high as 18s with minor modification, but I recommend going no more than 15. In fact 195/55-15 come standard on my car with a nice set of speedline alloys. Anything much more than 15s require expensive low profile tires and handling worsens.

Welcome riastars to the forum.

A good site for checking what is recommended wheel wise(regarding size) is Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels By the way 14" is all they recommend for our vehicles.

If you are interested in some used 14'' wheels you can look at '92 era VW wheels for the Jetta and Golf. They have the correct offset and bolt pattern for your vehicle which is 4x100.

You can look at the classifieds in your area at VWvortex.com for wheels and tires.

Good luck with your search.

Mine's got 205/45/17:

It is paired with a lowering spring (1.5" drop) and gas shocks. Handling' never been better. Just don't load it with more than 5 people

Hi guys, found these 14 inch rims in a local classified for a 1991 VW for 150 dollars. The owner says they will fit a rabbit, golf or jetta(4x100). Do you guys think this will work for my 1998 suzuki esteem?5560j3d_20.jpeg

Yes.
Why not go to the seller, show him the $, jack car remove your tire/rim combo and then fit the new rim(sellers Jetta rims)? This will give you confidence in making your purchase. No matter what others say mainly me, it is you that must be convinced that they fit.

Comparing wheels at Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels and seeing that the same models fit both cars is another way, but in the end seeing is believing.

Good luck.

Do you think I can tell even without having the rubber on them? I will for sure give this a try and see if it works, otherwise I like how they look, thanks.
