Default Ticking In The Head....lifters

so the 99 esteem im buying ticks really loud, just like my dodge stealth twin turbo and na stealths did. I replaced the lifters bam fixed problems. I Called a few shops they said likely to be lifters that it is common in suzuki's??

I saw on aerio forums they have the same issue commonly around 67k miles and my esteem has 137k miles. the guy im buying the car from says he thinks it needs a valve job. but i kind of doubt it especially when i go on ebay and immediately i find lifters for it. makes sense to me.

The lifters ticking is normal when you first start the car and it makes kind of a growling sounds when you accelerate, once the engine warms up it goes away my 1999 1.6 has been like this for the last 100k+ miles that I have owned it.

But if it still does it once the engine has warmed it they might just need to be adjusted.

yeah.. no adjustment on those..and they're not cheap..
just make sure you have clean oil, with good pressure before you start changing the lifters.

$127 isnt too bad but i'll be doing the lifters myself. I will check the oil pressure so I can make sure its not the oil pump or something. But i'm gonna complete the turbo project before tearing into it.

Check the timing chain and guides, I looked at one that had that problem, that sounds, well like a bike chain against metal.
