Default Broken bolt! help please!

Arg!
I have a 2000 esteem 1.8l.

Was changing the lower left control arm.

The big bolt that hold the control arm snapped. I manage to cut the control arm to get it off.

I was planning to heat the remaining of the bolt to take it off, but it is complely loose!. I can push the remaining of the bolt inside the cross member. I dont think the inside of the cross member is accessible to put a nut and use a new bolt? What should I do?? Change the cross member? put a new bolt and weld the head? help! I need my car back.

Thank you!

Suzuki put the bolt in there somehow, so there must be a hole. You may end up having to drop the crossmember down. Or you may could drill a at angle from the side pointing to the hole, and put a bolt in there, but that pretty big hole, big enough for the bolt head.

Get a good grade 8 or better bolt, and tighten it up with the suspension on the ground and all the weight on it. This assures the rubber bushings are not pre-twisted.

Thank,
I am gonna take off the cross member (suspension frame) I dont really have the choice.

The thing is, if I put a bolt or a nut inside the cross member, what is gonna stop it from turning when triying to tighten it or to loose it?

Do you know if originally the cross member was threaded?

thank you

I don't know if the Xmember is threaded, I can look in my manual later.
Pure luck will keep the nut from turning.

Ok!
Got the cross member out , no place at all to access inside.

I decided to cut a hole in it so I can put a new bolt and a nut inside that I can hold while tightening.

The hole was really easy to do with a Dremel. The pain in the ass was to take the cross member out (AND IT WASN'T NECESSARY). So now I need new bolt because I broke 2 the during the disassembly and the rest are too rusty. (Winters in Quebec are great, but really hard on cars).

Here are picture of the hole that I made.
