Question Is the Suzuki Baleno(Esteem) OBD2?

hi, I have a Suzuki Baleno 2000-1300 cc.The protocol OBD2 for this car should be ISO 9141,the DLC has 16 pines (OBD2) but only 3 are connected:
5: ground,16: battery and 9: ????. I used an ELM 327 OBD2 interface but didn`t work. Is the suzuki Baleno OBD2?

The 1996 and newer Esteems all use OBD-II, I am not sure about the Baleno.

Most Balenos seem to have the OBD2 connector with only pins 16, 5 and 9 connected - that is the Suzuki proprietary interface. I have a 2000 1.6 Baleno engine here but I haven't tried to hack the interface yet. I'm missing the wiring from under the dashboard. My project for this winter is to hack the ECU. I'm hoping the OBD interface is the same as that fitted to other Suzuki models.

A guy in India has already tried this protocol without success but it may be a problem with his interface or software. If it doesn't work then I'm pretty confident that I can pull the code from the ECU and then it should be simple to work out the protocol. The processor in the Baleno ECU is a common processor unlike the proprietary item in the Vitara/Sidekick ECUs.
